On June 8th 2015
this race car was delivered to Terry Labonte Chevrolet. This is the 1996
“IRONMAN” car that Terry Labonte raced. On April 14th 1996 in North Wilkesboro,
NC three major accomplishments happened. In this car Terry Labonte started from
the pole position, won the race, and tied Richard Petty’s record of 513 consecutive
starts. The next week at Martinsville Speedway he took the record for himself
with 514 consecutive starts. He then went on to race 655 straight Winston Cup
races. This 1996 “IRONMAN” car made its final appearance on October 27th,
1996 in Phoenix.

Terry Labonte Chevrolet hosted a surprise luncheon for Terry Labonte. Terry is
a 2016 Nascar Hall of Fame inductee. We had many special guests attend this
event including: Terry Labonte, Tim Payne, Bob Glaser, Kevin Smith, and Gary
Dehart. Tim Payne is the wounded veteran who received our specially modified
Silverado pickup truck last year from Governor McRory. Bob Glaser is the President
of North Carolina Auto Dealers. Kevin Smith is the Chevrolet area Manager. Gary
Dehart is the crew chief for Terry Labonte. Gary has been with Hendrick
Motorsports for many years. He was even apart of the 1996 Championship year. A
few of these special guests presented awards. Bob Glaser presented Terry Labonte
with an appreciation award. Kevin Smith presented the 2014 Chevrolet Mark of
Excellence Award to Terry Labonte Chevrolet. This award is given to dealers who
are in the top 10% of the country in customer satisfaction index, sales, and community
service. After the awards and the luncheon were finished Terry Labonte signed
autographs, took photos, and did a few interviews. It was a great day at Terry
Labonte Chevrolet!
